Dayton Help needed

I am looking for a good local restaurant for a Sunday night dinner by myself, as I am traveling for business. Never stayed in the area before so I am looking for some help . I am staying at the .Doubletree in Miamsisburg and will have a car but would prefer to stay somewhat in the area. Would prefer more informal than formal but really anything will work.

  1. I use this hotel when in Dayton. GPS recommended as you won't see it from any of the
main roads. This area is LOADED with the usual chainfood. If your rate include breakfast,
    they do a good job.

The 1st floor hallways can be noisy as kids run & shout while running to:from the pool.

    My favs ...

    Amar (Indian)

    El Meson:

    Dayton-style Pizza:

    Cincinnati-style Chili Parlors:

    Gold Star Chili:

Tanks Bar & Grill: If you are coming from the northside (airport or I70); Tanks is not far out of the way and does a good job w/burgers:

    El Meson
    8810 S Emerson Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46237

    Gold Star
    219 S Winemiller, Batavia, OH 45103

You've probably already made the trip, but for what it's worth, Amar India is excellent! We go there for every major occasion with family and friends. It is also a great place for a casual lunch buffet, especially if you want to sample some of the offerings. I've tried other indian restaurants all over Ohio (and a few beyond) but nothing compares to Amar.

If you are looking for Cincinnati-style chili, stick with Skyline, not Gold Star.

I work in the area with a lot of Indian contractors and vendors. Amar is their favorite place to go.
If you do ever go to Skyline, stick with the chili-related items. I tried their buffalo chicken wrap last week and it was, well, bad.
