Toppers pizza St Paul

chazmo Sep 2, 2011 11:24 AM

Has aynone been to Toppers in St Paul or Mpls ? We live a few blocks from the new location in St Paul. The only thing I've heard was it's better than Dominoes but not as good as Pizza Hut. That doesn't make me want to go. Plus their sign on the awning is pretty cheesy. Pun intended.

Is this the same Toppers that's a relatively small chain in Wisconsin? If so, it's more famous for its bread sticks with ranch sauce than it's fairly lousy pizza. That was Friday night dinner when I was in college and couldn't afford real food. ;)

Had Toppers once in La Crosse a few years ago. Wouldn't order it again. And there are so many other pizza options in St. Paul.

We also don't live too far from the new St. Paul location. Hubster wanted to order delivery from them a couple of days ago. I poo-poo'd it but we ordered anyway... and we've now had pizza delivered from there twice. Now, we both love Punch pizza, and this definitely isn't that, but we were pleasantly surprised. I've had the Chicken Club and Maui pizzas. Hubby had the Meat and Philly Cheesesteak pizzas. We both agree that the thin and crunchy pizzas are the best (the only other one we tried was the tall boy - not as good as a Pizza Hut deep dish). Hubby also said that the Chicken Club and Maui pizzas were better than the Meat and Philly Cheesesteak ones. Honestly... I really, really liked the Chicken Club pizza and frankly I was surprised that the quality was so good, the delivery so prompt, and the delivery driver so nice in just the 1st week they were open. Hope they keep it up.

i only had a sausage/onion flat pizza. i thought the ingredients were ok but the whole shebang did not do much for me... it lacked inspiration.
i think, with the demise of dino's and the confusion at grampa tony's, my favorite "pizza joint" is now the pizza shop on dodd road.

Tried it on Monday - ordered a sausage and mushroom "myza" and the breadsticks with ranch. Not impressed - the pizza was lacking toppings and the breadsticks had nothing on them but cheese - no garlic butter, nothing. I'll be sticking with the Italian Pie Shoppe as my go-to pizza place in Mac-Groveland

Have you tried the pizzas at the Grand Old Creamery? They are works of art IMHO. (I love Italian Pie Shoppe too)

I have not - but will give it a shot when I'm in the car - I'll admit that part of my love of the Italian Pie Shoppe is the location - I can walk and pick it up. Love living in Mac-Groveland!

                Are you kidding me!?

That pizza is just horrendous! Check out the Yelp! reviews (one of which was mine). Seriously, the owners need to stop using recycled pizza frozen pizza cardboard rounds for their dough and learn how to make real pizza dough or they're gonna go down fast.

Freschetta isn't lying when they say their frozen pizza is better than take out - especially THIS take out.
