Take out (to eat at the game) near Fenway

owen_meany Sep 1, 2011 06:40 PM

El Pelon used to be our stop prior to going to see the Sox play but now it's no longer conveniently located. We're looking for a really good sandwich or burrito or otherwise good place to get take out to take into the game. I'm not a meat eater so even though those sausage and peppers SMELL good...

Any thoughts appreciated,

I like La Verdad at the end of Lansdowne street -- very good burritos/tacos and easy to port in. Also, a bargain compared to the food inside (but what isn't?).

Last week I grabbed a pre-game Chile Relleno Torta at La Verdad that I'm still thinking about. One of the best sandwiches I've had in recent memory, vegetarian or otherwise.

if you're not a meat eater, you might try taking out some of the "housemade" tofu from Basho.

i know they don't let you bring in water bottles or beverages. does fenway let you bring in food? i usually just eat before the game.

You can bring in sealed water bottles as long as they are 16oz or less or something.

Food is OK, small water bottles are OK.

owen, i am also a big fan of la verdad; it's a weekly fix for us, driving in from the burbs. I'm a fish tacos addict; My Love gobbles their carne asada torta. get LOTS of napkins; many luscious sauces adorn the food.

Falafel wrap from Rami's in Coolidge Corner.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Rami's would have been on our mind but it was a Saturday so they are closed. Love the other suggestions, especially La Verdad which is now on our list. As it is we ended up getting takeout from the Parish Cafe.

                Thanks! Sara
