Your thoughts on reusable sandwich bags (Lunchskins and the like)

My sister in law is now obsessed with Lunchskins for the kids snacks.
For those who may not be familiar with them:

So these things get 5 star reviews, but they seem a little pricey. And maybe not so useful. But that's just me. Do any of you CHers use these and like/not like them?

We won't use them or anything that has to come home from school at the end of the day.

My now 14 year old is no good at bringing containers home. In May we wondered why we were almost out of glad and tupperware containers in the house. Turns out my kid had 23 containers putrifying in her school locker.

Last year the principal sent home a note in March begging parents not to send reusable food containers to school. The stench from the lockers was unbearable and there were bug infestations.

I don't want a container coming home at 5 pm that left at 7am and sat unrefrigerated all day with who knows what starting to fester in it. I'd much rather the kid take a throw away zip lock bag. I may not be green, but I feel that it's safer to use it and toss it.

I have a bunch of similar items that I bought from crafty people on etsy.com; probably the same price range, but lots more colors and designs. They last quite long, and easily rinse out if you have something that gets on the inside of the bags.

I don't use them much for sandwiches, as I usually have artisan bread that's in shapes that dont fit well in the bags. And they don't hold my sandwich together enough, so that the insides of the sandwich move around too much and spill out.

But I do use them for cutup vegetables and fruits, and so does my daughter. And crackers and such. We both like them a lot!
