September 2011 Farmers' Markets, CSAs, Farm Stands, Other Fresh & Local

Happy September all. My husband and I will toast the month this evening with a great sparking wine as we do each month of the year!

This is the season of bounty on the fresh & local scene.

I love walking up to farmers market stands that are overflowing with choices. Copley has been great this year and I'm managed to get to City Hall Plaza, Central Square, Brookline and Prudential too.

I'm hearing a bit of talk about some additional winter markets in the area. Let's hope that comes about. If the rest of you hear of anything that might be open this year, add it here.

I'm hoping to make the rounds of a few farm stands this month. What has been great and what do you think is worth hiring a car for a trip outside the city?

There is another conversation going on Winter CSA's here:

  1. This is my month to struggle with the decision of a late Fall and Winter CSA. I currently am with Farmer Dave's (pick up in Somerville). It is my first CSA and I am enjoying it immensely. I have a half-share of vegetables and a fruit share. They have a late fall session (November to mid-December) which I am seriously considering. That would leave me up in the air for the Winter, though.
