Tuna ribs and bacon jam [Suburban Detroit]
I went to Northern lakes Seafood CO about 2 weeks ago and had one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. Come to find out they have new chefs and it shows on the menu. I ordered Ahi Tuna ribs with a coffee, chili, chocolate glaze and plantain fries as an app. Never seen that before but they should be everywhere that’s how good they were. Has anyone ever seen tuna ribs anywhere before, because I have not but I fell in love at first bite. The main course was also very well done. I had a Coho salmon with a corn and pepper puree, local heirloom cherry tomatoes, and these really good mushrooms I didn’t know, finished with a pepper/chili relish. It was most excellent. My girlfriend had the ono fish with a mango sauce and asian veggies which she loved. The only thing that did not impress was the desert menu, it was average at best so it was skipped. Great service, great food, great time we had. We went back again over the weekend but the did not have the tuna rib app this time and I was disappointed until we got our new love dropped off at the table. It was a PB&J style app made with almond butter they make and bacon jam. Who knew there was a way to make bacon better but they found a was. OMG it was so fu**in good. Our dinner was great again. Think we found our new favorite place. A must try I say. PS Let me know if any of you have seen any tuna rib anywhere else

Just left Northern Lakes Seafood Company..... the service was exceptional; unfortunately the seafood was a big disappointment. The shrimp in the chilled shrimp was old, dry and fishy. the lobster in the lobster bisque tasted and smelled old and my guest could barely chew the twin lobster tails they were so tough. Lastly the char-grilled baby asparagus was the worst presentation of a vegetable in a long time. Will never return to or recommend this chain to anyone.
