Lots of good ;foods in Vancouver...I eat well on my visits there. Anyone have any suggestions where to go for an interesting salad? I get a craving for an interesting, nutritious, green leafy lunch now and then.

I asked a similar question a while back and responses were anaemic at best.

My own experience is that this is quite a one dimensional town in leafy green terms-a few suppliers seem to have the restaurant market covered and Chefs seems unmotivated.

Maybe some kind soul is bursting with fresh info to the contrary but I doubt it.

Salads is one thing Aphrodite's Cafe on W4th does particularly well. Not the most creative perhaps but I find them quite satisfying. They source their produce largely from Glen Valley Organic farm in the Fraser Valley.

Salads are a bit challenging here. I rather like the Cobb at Crave but it is a full meal. I've mentioned the salads before at Dharma Kitchen which were lovely though it's been a while.

This doesn't qualify as interesting so much as delicious...
I had a really nice tuna nicoise today at Red Wagon. The tuna was perfectly seared albacore tuna and melted in my mouth. The dressing was a nice olive-based vinaigrette.

This isn't perhaps the most popular option with Chowhounds but the Cactus Club has some a couple of nice , interesting salads on their menu (I'm thinking of the Raincoast Greens and the Bandara Salad in particular)

I used to like that bandara salad when CC first opened on Bway and Granville, haven't had it in years!

BIL had a salad from Nu on Robson yesterday that he pronounced very flavourful and fresh, FWIW.

A bit of a tangent - I've eaten at the new Nu a couple of times now. The souvlakis do remind me of the old souvlaki joint on Denman. Well worth the $6 price.

Oh yeah, forgot about the Raincoast greens. With some grilled salmon added, it's quite a tasty and satisfying meal.

The Raincoast greens salad is one of the best salads in town (in my opinion) and if you are going to a chain definitely go to Cactus club for this salad. My other go to salad places are the NAAM and Sejuiced on 4th for vegan salads. You can also try Gorilla raw foods salads (the great gorilla is huge). Can't get healthier than that. Crave on Main has a good tuna nicoise as well.

The last memorable salad I had was the Cobb Salad at the Hamilton Street Grill.

Always looking for good salads! One of my faves is the seafood salad at Ajisai Sushi Bar in Kerrisdale, basic greens, light dressing, fresh daily seafood and cornflakes for crunch. Also Zakkushi in Kit's used to have this tofu salad, add some skewers and it was a perfect light meal. Their website doesn't seem to have it but their other salads look good.

Oh, ya, Zakkushi's salads are all awesome.

UBC Farm has some wonderful greens these days if you're into making your own.

Cru, Bishops and (I think) Provence restaurants make use of UBC greens in their salads. I didn't mention these wonderful green salads as they are appetizer portions and the OP seemed to be asking for meal sized salads.

One of the nicest salads I've had recently was a simple yet perfectly dressed and impeccably fresh green salad at Brasserie L'Ecole in Victoria

I love the Hollywood Salad at 8 1/2, I always get that as my side and add chicken it's great for a meal!
