Does anyone know of a good place to buy fish near 96th and Lex?

  1. Walk to 86 and go to Fairway.

    1. The best fish is at Dorian's on York Avenue....between 83 and 84th. Very expensive and they do deliver.

The fish department at Citarella's is better than Dorian's.

The fish dept at Citarella is great and about 10 times the size of Dorian's. (She's an alumna of the late great lamented Rosedale.) However all her stuff is top drawer.... can't imagine better crab cakes (even tho I have to take out a loan to buy them -:)

      2. Holland Court at 1423 Lex -between 92nd and 93rd.

Holland Court used to be the only place I knew in walking distance, but it is kind of meh. Fairway, however, usually has something I want in the fishmonger's case nowadays.

I have gone into Holland Court - not impressed. Their fish doesn't look any better than Gourmet Garage, which I notice no one has mentioned.

I usually check ahead of time with Evan at Holland Court on what is best. Been shopping there for years, since they were on Madison Avenue.

          2. Agata and Valentina at 79th and 1st also has good fish - whole, fillet, and shellfish.
