So we ended up at Brasserie 292. I have to say based on the pedigree of the proprietors (Bobby Flay, CIA, etc) and the great reviews on yelp and tripadvisor, we were disappointed. The restaurant itself is quite nice although I can only imagine that when it is full, the noise is probably deafening as it was noisy on a Wednesday night when only a 1/4 full. As far as the service, the waitress was pleasant enough but very slow for instance not bringing bread to the table until we asked a bus boy and bringing a spoon for the onion soup after the soup was placed down. As far as the food itself, the most important thing, the highlight for both myself and my wife were the fries with the Bar Steak which were quite good. We shared an Onion Soup which was good but unremarkable. We also shared the Lobster Risotto and the Bar Steak. The Lobster Risotto was more like mildly flavored soup. I like my risotto creamy but this risotto was soupy and watery and it really did not help the flavor. The steak had a very nice taste and char but came out medium rather than the requested medium rare but it was still good. Next time I will try the Artist's Palate or return to Aroma Osteria.

I've never been to Brasserie 292, but if Aroma Osteria is offering their roast chicken special (call ahead), definitely go to Aroma. Artist's Palate is really good, but it's a little more casual than Aroma. I love their shrimp pasta dish.
