  1. Clayton's Coffee Shop or Crown Bistro..haven't been to Chance bistro yet..
If you want good Mex breakfast, you can head down to IB to Jalisco's Cafe..

    1. I spend some morning time in Coronado, and have eaten at Clayton's many, many times. It's quite charming, but I don't go for the food. Nice folks, but the food is less than special.

I really, really want to like the Night and Day Cafe a few blocks east on Orange, but it's food is similar to Clayton's, but a step below.

I've never been comfortable at the fancy-frenchy place at the end of Orange who's name completely escapes me- it has an odd feeling about it- service odd, and I was completely unimpressed with their bakery items.

While I try to avoid negative reviws (nothing more boring than a CH bitch-fest) I've nothing to offer for Coronado breakfast. And I'd appreciate it if anyone has positive suggestions- but they need to tolerate customers with the smell of both beach and dog hair. At 600 am.

Clayton's is one of those places that is so darn Americana that you feel bad running any type of smack on it but if you stick to the basics, you'll be ok.
Does Mc P's Irish Pub serve breakfast?
That is where I'd go just for the SEAL eye candy alone..

          Well...

I'd not post a place unless I'd consider it Chow-worthy, and even the basics at Claytons (nice folks!) are sub-par and certainly not worthy. And the OP asked for "something good". Again, I go there and eat there a few times per month because it's right on my route between home and taking the damndog to the beach, but wanted to warn the OP- it's our solemn duty as 'hounds. Hey, look- a Clayton's image! No- four...

How about something at the Del? Overpriced I would expect, but chow-worthy maybe?

Very possible, but I'm never dressed for it.

As long as you are not naked you are "dressed" enough in SD

                  That's what I meant....not dressed enough. ; )

Sheerwater in the Del but never been...love the Sunday brunch at the Crown Room.
Loew's resort has some great breakfast but it's been awhile.

            FN,
I think the place your thinking about is Tartine. I agree, the service is a bit odd, like they don't know what they want to be; counter service or table service; neighborhood friendly or upscale haughty. I had a slice of an apple tea cake there that I thought was too die for and a few really good entrees, but I've also had some burnt granola and overpriced, underwhelming sandwiches. Again, I feel like they are still trying to figure out who they are. But the inside is cute, there is an outside patio and they are a stone's throw from the water.

              Exactly!

              Well put.

          3. Check out Tartine.

            1. So I ended up on base at North Island with a tomato, bacon and avocado omlette for $5.50 at the Sea & Air G.C. clubhouse. Quite good. The spouse's breakfast burrito had a good report too.
