Need suggestions on fun dinner for 2 people, thank you!

My boyfriend and i are taking a weekend getaway. We are going to the laugh factory at 8001 sunset blvd at 10pm on Friday night. We need a place to get dinner before, somewhere close by that is fun/cool vibe/ambiance (something that makes it stand out, or known for?) and we don't mind splurging if the food is good. I researched a ton of romantic restaurants but they seemed too fussy or the menu was a little too eccentric. We eat anything but I am more of a seafood fan (i love sushi but we do it too much so sushi is out for this trip). He isn't picky at all. Any suggestions would be awesome..thank you!!

It's about a 5 minute walk from the Laugh Factory west to Bar Marmont...

Bar Marmont looks pretty yummy. Dan Tana place had awesome selection but it is a little too pricey i think. Son of a gun looks cool but wasnt sure if it was fancy enough..? Thanks for the replies

You're not too far away from Son of a Gun....which is the seafood restaurant from the guys behind Animal. It's a popular place....so a reservation could be tough. But if you can't get a table, they have a number of communal tables every night. If you go early enough....you might be able to snag something.

First choice would be Dan Tana's on Santa Monica just east of Doheney. Old school Italian with one of the classic bars in town. Always a scene. You want to sit on the bar side of the restaurant. Always celebrities and always a fun scene. Last week we were there and sat next to Jay Leno and Don Rickles. If you like seafood, the white fish is outstanding. For your boyfriend the Chicken Beckerman (all dark meat), steak and peppers or NY are all super.

If you cant get in, you might try Boa Steakhouse on Doheney and Sunset. Hip scene and very good steaks. Not as fun as Dan Tana's, but a good choice.
