My husband and I are new to the Roslindale area. We are excited to for some great dining experiences in Boston. We are not afraid to travel into the city. What are your 10 favorite MUST try restaurants in the area?

*For some reason, I rarely dine at Clio or Salts, but whenever I do, it ends up knocking something out of my running top 10 for a good six months afterward.

**Sometimes Scampo absolutely blows me away; sometimes it doesn't. Front-of-house can be strange there.

***Some favorite more-casual dining experiences: Gaslight, Eastern Standard, Highland Kitchen, Kaze (shabu), Cutty's sandwich shop, Dok Bua, Dumpling Cafe, Fuloon, Metropolis Cafe (dinner), the Butcher Shop, Toro, Citizen Public House.

****I also really, really like Grill 23.

Can't resist this thread ever. Here's ten off the top of my head. They're not all high end but they are top shelf. These are the places of countless good times, great food and lively atmosphere. Chefs like Chris Schlesinger, Steve Johnson, Barbara Lynch and Ken Oringer are super talented and tremendous hosts. Enjoy!

I live in Cambridge and so have somewhat limited horizons. by the way how important is price?
Super high end: O ya
HIgh end: Clio/Uni, Craigie on Main,
Italian Coppa and Rialto (Rialto seems contraversial on this board)
Chinese: Golden Garden, East Ocean in Chinatown.
Thai: Rod Dee (a chain!)
Indian: Tamarind Bay
Pizza high end; Coppa medium Ottos in Harvard Square
Mesican: nothing to recommend
Spanish: Toro

food + Wine: Troquet, a great list at great prices; i find the food good

Thanks! We have been to Rialto already and found it to be good, but somewhat overrated. We loved No. 9 Park. Would like more experiences like that. Thanks for your reccomendations.
