Chinese Food in Rockwall Area

Hello!

I am new to the Dallas area (living in Rockwall) having just moved here from Chicago. I am struggling to find decent Chinese food in the area. I most recently tried delivery from China Taste (noooo comment!!!) and would love to get some ideas from others who live here.

Oh - I do not mind driving so if there's something that is a little bit of a journey, that is completely fine. Even though the roads here kind of scare me. What is with all the bridges?? :)

I lived in Rockwall for a year and chinese food is not its specialty... But lucky for you, you live near Garland, Tx which has Tasty China http://www.tastychinamenu.com their crab fried rice is delicous. Also, it's a bit ways from Rockwall but in Richardson's downtown area there is an asian shopping center that has many options --- our favorite is Jeng Chi --- their dumplings are the best, kung pao shrimp is sooo good also!

Rockwall does however has a really good pho place suprisingly -- pho garden...the owner tries her best to make it less greasy as possible..yet it still tastes delicous...you should try it out.

Oh just remembered Sing Kee is not bad either and is closer to you than Richardson is --- Its in another asian shopping center with a lot of options dining...this is a topic I go one forever on....

I don't know about Chinese food, but since you're in Rockwall already, definitely go check out AVA . It's excellent!

Thanks for the recommendation! I've head great things about AVA and am very excited to try it. I've also been told to try Zanata, and I've already been to Culpepper, which I thought was very, very good.

Also, Lewisville - I was just kidding about the bridges - trying to be funny. I guess it didn't come off too well. It is just a little shocking to see nine million bridges everywhere after driving through Chicago my whiole life. Our bridges are nothing compared to this.

First of all what is your idea of "decent Chinese food"? I know that Denton county much like Rockwall county is devoid of any Chinese food and if you happen upon something it is mostly Americanized slop. Looking for any specific dishes/regional styles?

Second N. Texas is mostly plains so the bridges are a common fact that we have nowhere to go but up, too costly to dig.

I'm also a resident of Rockwall and can confirm that there's not much noteworthy food in this town. Decent Chinese is definitely something you'll have to travel for. Other people on here can make better recommendations than could I, but there are also a number of previous threads about some of the Chinese options in other parts of the metroplex.
