Who sells cream puffs that use real whipped cream?

Periodically I get a craving for a cream puff or a chocolate eclair - the kind that are filled with real whipped cream- not the custard kind. I think Viking Pastry used to sell the cream puffs but the last time I was there - which was a while ago - they weren't the same. I know cream puffs are supposed to be relatively easy to make, but I am just not a pastry maker.

Any recommendations for places either in Center City Philadelphia or the Western Suburbs? Thanks in advance.

The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College sells them daily. I think classes just started back up today.

Thanks for the response. I went to their web site and it looked like the kind of cream puffs they have is more of the yellow cream or pastry cream. Not exactly the kind of cream I meant, but thanks.

I still have fond memories of the raspberry or maybe it was strawberry cream puffs Viking Pastry in Ardmore used to have but the last time I was there I was very disappointed.

I also wanted to mention that I Googled Cream Puffs in Philadelphia and mentioned was the back of the frozen yogurt place in the 1300 block of Walnut St. They sell a limited number of baked goods in the back. Since I was in that vicinity today, I stopped there, and while they do have cream puffs, the vanilla flavor is more of what I consider custard than cream. Maybe it is real pastry cream, but what I am looking for is more like whipped cream. There was a place at Fanuel Hall (again my spelling is bad) in Boston that had a Japanese Cream Puff place there a number of years ago. They made them to order and it was perfect but it didn't last. I will have to try Costco or making my own. Thanks again.

Hey, not sure if you're responding to me, but the Restaurant School's website is terribly out of date. I know for sure that their cream puffs are filled with whipped cream. Also, they're happy to take special orders and can make them exactly how you'd like.

Thanks for the information. I will have to look into Costco when I get some more room in my freezer.

Agree, the ones from Costco aren't bad at all, esp with some choc syrup drizzled on them!

Termini on S. 8th (and in the Reading Terminal Market) sells St. Joseph's day cakes with cream or mascarpone but only once a year, around Lent. Try them when they have them.

One other thought is you could buy the cream puff shells and fill them yourself ... a little extra work but you only have ot break out the mixer, not the turn on the oven!
