dinner after 10 pm - Convention Center / Old Montreal

We're arriving at the Intercontinental Hotel on St. Antoine fairly late this Friday night. I'd love recommendations for where to eat and have a drink at 10 or 10:30 pm -- and, in case we're delayed, a backup for after midnight. Within walking distance would be ideal, but if that's not possible we're prepared to take a taxi.

Both are good choices, and not too far a walk from your hotel either.

If it's after midnight and you're not keen on Chinese and okay with taking a cab, head to L'Express on St-Denis. They're open until 2 or 3am.

The kitchen at L'Express is open until 2 o'clock in the morning. Le Chien Fumant also boasts of a kitchen being open late, but is nowhere near the Palais de Congres. Last I heard Icehouse, Imadake, Kitchenette, Lawrence, Montee de lait, Nouveau Palais, Au Pied de Cochon, Pinxto and Tapeo were also serving late, although I would presume that most of the kitchens would close closer to 11 o'clock than 2 o'clock.

From experience, I know that APDC serves well after midnight (and the advantage is you can usually get seated at that hour without a reservation!). Nouveau Palais has the taco truck until at least 1 am, IIRC.

If you're *very* late, Maison VIP is open til 5 am, I believe? Cantonese, pretty Westernized, but I like the pickled-ginger chicken and deep-fried soft shell crab once in a while.

You're walking distance to Chinatown, where many restaurants are open well into the wee hours on weekends - Keung Kee is my favourite, but there are many others if you check the boards.
