Watercress

Anyone know where I can buy fresh watercress for cooking. The stuff they have at Loblaws looks wilted and unappetizing.

T&T has a 4 day sale (this Friday thru Monday) for watercress - 4 bunches for only $2.00!

Picked up some at the Weldrick store and the watercress was very fresh.

I'm a little late here, but I'll weigh in anyway! H-Mart usually carries watercress in bunches (the bagged kind is a bit less wilty looking). The best I've found is always B&W watercress -- it comes bagged or bunched. I think they cater to the Asian markets in most cities, so that's always a good place to check. Wilty watercress is definitely not living up to its potential, so I hope you find a good source nearby stat! Good luck, annamac!

Might have to head downtown. Haven't found any bagged at HMart or Galleria. Used the wilty stuff, but without much joy.

Try T&T at the Promenade Mall. Closer than going downtown if you're in North York - what particular area of North York are you in?

No Frills at Eglinton/Vic Park had a bunch of watercress this weekend.

All of the Asian supermarkets carry watercress. What area are you in? I usually go to the Chinese/Vietnamese supermarkets for watercress, as cheap at $0.49 per bundle to a $1.00 per bundle. H-Mart & Galleria carry watercress too, but at a higher price ($1.29 per bundle).

As Dachopstix says, all of the Chinese groceries along Spadina and Dundas have very fresh ( high turnover) and inexpensive Watercress. They also have fresh chicken bones at $1.00 a bag if you happen to be making watercress soup.

Thanks - I'm in North York - might try HMart.
