Meaty Kosher Restaurant near Miami International Airport?

Can anyone recommend a nice meaty restaurant near Miami Airport?

  1. The closest I can think of are the ones along 41st Street in Miami Beach. Exit the airport following the sighns to I-195. TakenI-195 east and at the end continue unto 41st. You will see about 4 - 5 places, ranging from Israeli fare to high end steak house. "Rare". It is about 10 miles (15 minutes without traffic jams).

Rare is awesome. Worth the price.

Meaty? The closest meat place would be the deli at the University of Miami. It's also about 15 minutes but all local roads so much closer as the crow flies. IMO, it's a special mitzvah to support it because it helps Jewish life on campus. The next closest would be Elie's Cafe downtown. After that would be Pita Loca on South Beach.

Thanks for the tip about 41st street. We had a walkabout and ended up having a really good meal at Pita Hut.

      2. Wow! you learn something new every day. Thank you, Deiscane. After living in Broward County for 20 years, I didn't even know about the kosher cafeteria at U of M. Gotta try it one day. On the other hand, one has to be careful with timing in and out of Miami airport. US1 from the end of I-95 to Coral Gables can be a parking lot, depending on teh time. Wetbound 112 coming back from Miami Beach likewise. While both places are quoted by google maps as being about 15 minutes away, I don't think either Larry Paige or Sergey Brin ever had to take the south florida roads during peak hours

The deli at UM has only been open for about two years, so you can be forgiven for not knowing about it. The Chabad rabbi at UM, a friend of mine for almost 20 years, spearheaded its development. I've had a handful of meals there and have always enjoyed it. Not top-notch deli but given the price and locale, it's very good. It also caters, which is really welcome in the area.
