Where can I buy fresh ravioli in DC?

Can anyone recommend a place to get fresh ravioli to take home in DC? They can be frozen, to cook at home, but freshly made--does that make sense?? Pumpkin or butternut squash ravioli would be wonderful! TIA!

The Italian Store in Arlington has a great freezer selection of stuffed pastas.

You can purchase fresh ravioli from Eastern Market. They are open year round and always have a wide variety of flavors. I highly recommend! I have had Copper Pot and they are good as well, but not sure how late in the season you can get them.

Eastern market's ravioli is good, sometimes the dough is a bit thick. The Copper Pot is better, but beware - Make sure to keep them cold until you are ready to cook, as even the slightest defrost will make them stick, and their delicate wrappers will be torn. For this reason I usually avoid them in the summer and overbuy when it is cold! He also sells at Dupont and that market is year-round.

and if you call the pasta folks at the Eastern Market a few days ahead and ask real nice sometimes they can customize the fillings.

Go to the U Street Farmers Market and buy pasta from Copper Pot. It might be too early for some of that ravioli, but I have had his ravioli before - and tortellini (butternut squash) and it's delicious. You can freeze them, he serves them fresh though. I have some of the butternut squash tortellini in my freezer now.

Thank you, both of you! I will try Vace. Jeserf, I'm planning to serve the ravioli as part of Thanksgiving dinner--when would I have to ht the U street market, do you know, to have it in time?

hm, the last market of the year is, I think, the weekend before Thanksgiving (or the weekend prior, I'm not 100% sure). I would go, try his out, and then ask when the last is - but I know it's around that time.

Also - there are two amazing sourced of baked goods for Thanksgiving there - Lois from Pennsylvania makes AMAZING pumpkin rolls (I buy them every year for both thanksgiving and my office pot luck - it freezes well and is delicious) and a new vendor, Whisked, which is very tasty from what I have had - lots of seasonal items.

Copper Pot also sells at Bloomingdale's market, so may sell elsewhere as well. Probably worth looking up. And if you have a car, the Italian Store in Arlington usually has pumpkin ravioli that are excellent.

Try Vace in Cleveland Park or Bethesda. They have lots of freshly made frozen pastas.
