I did it last week for the first time at El Toro (was going to get a burrito until I saw I was there within the window). I had 3 - carne asada, carnitas, and al pastor. These are perfectly fine regular tacos, with the usual beans and salsa. I think onions too, not sure if they were topped with cilantro. Would I go out of my way for them? Probably not unless I wanted to eat 8 or 9 of them.
Good as a cheap snack between lunch and dinner.

not to mention for $1.75 at all hours, you can go to taqueria vallarta and get the most authentic tacos in sf

I agree with the general sentiment: Taq Vallarta is better, but for $1/taco El Toro is a reasonable deal for not-high carb + decent protein.
One detail to add: the salsas at Toro are better than Vallarta.

Agreed that the Toro/Pancho Villa salsas are very good to excellent. Truth be told, this is why I keep coming back (especially to PV): the salsas blow those at places like El Farolito out of the water, and the other burrito components have always been at least adequate. Plus you can order them "pura carne" and skip all the extra filler.
