November 5-6, 2011 - Cider Days
This is a festival in western MA but I am posting it here because there were a bunch of posts on the GC thread about best hard ciders from people in eastern MA/greater Boston. If anyone is planning on going and wouldn't mind a passenger, I would love to tag along. (I can't drive long
distances due to arthritis - my e-mail contact is in my profile.)
This is such a great event and it is growing every year. I strongly urge people to make the drive to lovely western MA (I am a native) and see for themselves. The first year I attended a tasting of hard cider (Farnum Hill and West County ciders) along with the apples used to make them, with commentary by the owners. Fantastic.
Last year I went to the Cider Salon, which was along the lines of a wine tasting with about 20 tables of vendors. There were cider makers from all over - Michigan, New York, England, etc., and a real variety in terms of styles.
The entire weekend is well organized, very reasonably priced and just downright fun. Greygarious, I wish I could give you a ride, but since I am a native I will be visiting for several days. Good luck!
Oh, how I wish I could go and offer you a ride!
I'm from the Hudson Valley of NYS now living in Los Angeles. Every year when Fall approaches I start missing the fabulous cider we used to get fresh from the presses. Nothing else like it!
At least this will bump up your request. I hope it happens for you.
