Homemade Cheese - Best Milk

  • 5

I just bought a book on making cheese at home and am ready to go! I am looking for the best pasteurized, non-homogenized milks and creams. What brands (store/market) would you recommend and where to buy? On another level any tips on getting FRESH milk?

Any suggestions would be great!

I am in North Beach, and would prefer not to cross a bridge, but it can be arranged.

  1. Straus Cream Top pasteurized and if you want to try Caravale raw,
You will be in good company. Cowgirl Creamery MT TAM. It's a smooth, creamy, elegant, 10-oz, triple-cream - made with tasty organic milk from the Straus Family Dairy.

Pasteurized and non-homogenized milk, Straus is the only one I've seen around. It's cheaper labeled as the house-brand "cream top" milk at Trader Joe's.

Hmmm Whole Foods didn't have whole milk.

Trader Joe's usually does, though they may run out.
