Uh, oh, my last meal at Mustards was so bad that I had better not recommend anything "similar". But then I always think ordering liver is a true test of a kitchen - Mustard's earned an F on their liver effort that day. Nor were their particularly enthused with my gratuitous suggestions for ways to improve their version. Not sure if it still is on the menu any longer though.
PS: I see they still offer liver but with a different preparation now. But still with a dose of attitude.

I'm sort of with glbtrtr on Mustards...
Big grilled meats with sticky-sweet sauces and unbalanced accompaniments. In Rutherford, you would probably like Rutherford Grill which is quite similar or, more low-key and better quality, is Bounty Hunter in downtown Napa. BarbersQ also has decent ribs but is more BBQ-oriented and also low-key.
Sorry I can't make recommendations in Santa Rosa; I don't dine over there often enough.
Also, you might want to post this on the San Francisco board for more hits. It is considered part of that realm...
