Tips for Dining, Eating, and Food Shopping in DC/Baltimore and Suburban Virginia

Good place for breakfast in Greenbelt/College Park area?

Really don't want to eat the hotel breakfast. Looking for someplace with good food (including good coffee) reasonably close by. TIA

  1. Slim pickings - nothing amazing either a greasy spoon or chain restaurant in CP and Greenbelt
Barnside Diner Route 1 CP -decent food
    Silver Dollar Diner -Greenbelt Rd
    IHOP Route 1
    Plato's Route 1 going South
    Starbucks Route 1

    1. Haven't had a chance to try the breakfast but the nerwly opened Busboys and Poets in Hyattsville (Route One or Baltimore Ave; south of College Park) is now serving breakfast and brunch on weekends.

As I noted elsewhere, the place in ultra hip and PC to the max but the one meal I had there did not knock me out.

For a more utiltarian breakfast , many old timers rave about the Professional Cafe just aways down Route One from the new Busboys. Said to have some serious hashbrowns

      1. If you don't mind a chain place, there's a Denny's in Greenbelt. You may want to check out Burger Delite (Beltsville and Hyattsville) and the Tastee Diner in Laurel.

        1. Highly recommend the Bagel Place on Rt. 1 near the university of maryland. Freshly made bagels, coffee bar, good prices. One of the best places in College Park to eat. Open for breakfast and lunch.
