Williamsburg, VA - restaurant suggestions

Will be in Williamsburg, VA early October. Looking for "gracious" dining in or around Williamsburg (30 minute drive). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Well, if you are visiting Williamsburg, you might want to try one of the restored colonial taverns. You'll get mixed reviews on the taverns, but where else can you eat in a tavern that was around during the Revolutionary War? It is worth a try once just to say you did it.

My wife and I like the Greene Leaf Inn . It's a pub style restaurant near William and Mary College. Good beers on tap with sizable pitchers available. Mostly sandwich fare, but good.

Fat Canary and Blue Talon Bistro have both been getting good reviews. I like the Opus 9 steakhouse, but I haven't been in a while and a couple of folks have posted that the service and/or food weren't what they were expecting.

Here's another thread with some recent reviews: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/798362. There are a few other on the board if you are interested.

Had a great meal at Blue Talon when visiting earlier this summer. And, al fresco sandwich at the Cheese Shop is warranted.
