Best BBQ i have never been to?!?!
I am from KC, but I live in Miami and will be back in town next week. Ever since Rachael Ray & Bourdain talked up Oklahoma Joe's I have heard it has been a madhouse there! I am looking to eat some great BBQ- but I want to try places I have never been that are great. In no particular order, here is where I have been- where to go next??? (this list could be a great last 2 weeks of dining before you die list Bourdain!!)
Fiorella's Jack Stack
Fritz's Smoked Meats
BB's Lawnside BBQ
Whew, this list has me hungry. I can't wait to hear what you all suggest, thanks for the help!
Fritz's Smoked Meats
10326 State Line Rd, Leawood, MO
This summer, our visit included L. C.'s for the first time. The meat was fantastic - every bit as good as I had heard. The onion rings were an overpriced disappointment.
The trip before, we ate at Oklahoma Joe's Olathe location. It was quite good, but not nearly in the class of L.C.'s.
KC Masterpiece thankfully closed. Terrible barbecue, even worse sauce.
LC's is tops if you ask me.
Brobeck's has the best ribs in the city.
I've never been fond of Jack's Stack.
The last time I went to Gates was the last time I'll ever go to Gates. The burnt ends were awful. Tasted like smoker scrapins with extra fat thrown in. And I was a huge fan of Gates.
BB's Lawnside is good, but a little sweet for me. I love the place though, they could have filmed "Roadhouse" in there.
Woodyard is good and its cool to eat barbecue in a... well... woodyard.
For me, its LC's, Brobeck's, OK Joe's
Others will not agree with me.
I had a BBQ caterer in Des Moines tell me the best burnt ends in KC were at Smokin Guns. It's up North of KC, not sure if it's considered NKC.
I just wished I'd spent my time going to LC's.
Every rec I get just falls short of LC's.
I haven't been down for a couple years. I hear there are consistency problems. I have to hit the airport tomorrow. I'll be checking it out.
I've never had a miss. This was a big miss.
I ordered them without sauce, They brought them to me sauced. I took them back and said "I'm really sorry, but I don't like the celery in the sauce" They apologized, and brought me a new plate right away. I can't help but wonder if that was where it went wrong. I heard someone behind the counter say, "that's gristle". Have no idea what they were talking about, but I would hope they wouldn't knowingly serve bad food.
We've both been here a long time, and you know I'm their biggest fan, but ouch.
You are right, though, one miss shouldn't end my love affair. Saturday the 10th I will give them another shot.
