  1. Dang !! The one day this week I had to be out in the 'burbs for work :-(

Any knowledge if he'll be at other places in town ?

Hope he hits the food trucks too.

no i think they keep that on then down low, but you can always follow him on twitter for clues i guess

      1. re: vandan

I saw a tweet confirming he was at Peaceful. Now I suppose I'm going to have to start taping that show till the ep airs... to echo one of our stalwarts here, I hope he made it to the Argo. I've been three times in the last three weeks, and it qualifies for two of the Ds, in a good way :-).

ya personally i think it has way more 3D cred than Red Wagon

          1. re: vandan

Too bad there's no like button on here...

          2. re: grayelf

I was wondering if the Argo was part of the itinerary too. It better be. I heard he went to North Van too....presuming it was to go to the Tomahawk.

            1. re: fmed

They apparently went to the Argo.

              1. re: fmed

hey fmed how did you mange to gather up such tight-lipped intel ??

                1. re: vandan

Not that tight lipped. Twitter can sink ships.

                  1. re: fmed

funny i was followinh Guy and just checked Argo on twitter and saw nothing mentioned at all about the place

                    1. re: vandan

I heard about the Argo from someone second hand. Reliable source though!

                      1. re: fmed

                        They taped at Falconetti's today.

(For the record, I don't watch the show).

                        1. re: fmed

Really? The last time I ate there it was terrible.

                          1. re: tdeane

Yeah - well, "de gustibus non est disputandum" as they say back in the old days.

      2. I wonder how many places in Greater Vanc. provide that gluttony quotient typical of the places Guy visits on his shows ?

I was thinking the same thing...

Tomahawk is about the only place I can think of.

          1. re: Florentine

as for huge portions there is nowhere on earth like the states, just look at the difference in food costs

            1. re: vandan

Blame the food cartels, I mean marketing boards, for that.

OTOH, it's great that Triple D is coming to Vancouver. Can't wait to see what Guy finds here.

          2. re: LotusRapper

Deacon's Corner would qualify. Don't know if they have enough interesting stuff, but their portion-sizes are serious business.

I just ate a place in SF that he visited called Dottie's. The portions weren't extreme, but the food was amazing. Chili-cheese cornbread with jalepeno mouth just started watering.

            1. re: JEheartbreak

Interesting. I've found that the portion sizes at Deacon's have decreased substantially since opening as the prices went up. And when we ate at Dottie's I thought the portions were off puttingly large and the food just okay, even the vaunted corn bread. Off day, maybe, but I wouldn't wait in line for it again (not even the relatively short wait we had).

              1. re: grayelf

Wow -- I didn't think my Dottie's breakfast was too big at all. I was staying around the corner from there last weekend and lined up @ 7:15 am for the 7:30 open. I didn't actually know it had appeared on his show until afterwards. I thought the cornbread was good -- but it needed the jelly to make it special, which I thought it was.

          3. Perhaps Hilltop Cafe Diner in Langley is more Guy's thing:

Or the pulled-pork pancakes and flatline burger at Hogshack Cookhouse:

I was thinking also of Fraser Park which I know is a favourite amongst a number popular food bloggers. The portions look pretty substantial. I have never been.
