Finding bread

Hi,

Anyone know where in Calgary I could find bread similar to Primal Grounds' cracked rye 'n molasses? (They won't sell loaves anymore.) Or something similar? It seems to be the only bread other than pumpernickel that I really enjoy. Thanks!

  1. I haven't had Prairie Mill's rye but their bread is so good you might want to take a look.

    1. Don't know the bread you're referring to, but Costco sells a dense rye loaf that is very good. Also, branch out a bit and try some of the Ace products at Superstore.

      1. For those not familiar with Primal Grounds' bread, it has herbs—wish I knew what kind—in it as well as being a rye bread; that's the tricky part.
Thanks for the suggestions so far; I'll certainly give them a try.

          Maybe caraway?

        2. I lucked out! I was at their Kingsland Market location today and they are selling the loaves again. Yay!
Still planning on trying the others too...

If you decide to branch out a bit try Aviv's bread from Sidewalk Citizen bakery. He sells at the Hillhurst/Sunnyside market on Wednesday & at his own bakery on Friday/Saturday. He makes amazing breads including ones with rye/herbs/seeds/etc. Google Sidewalk Citizen Calgary for all the places his baked goods are sold.

I second Aviv. Not cheap, but worth every cent, and then some. I've bought at Silk Road. (you'll end up buying more than bread)

Also, he delivers weekly to you in the downtown area!
