Last words of threads deleting when editing

I know this is a problem reported by folk several weeks ago but wonder if a fix is in view.

Engineering will recall that the problem occurs when you go back into a thread to edit it. then when you resave, the final several characters of the post have self-deleted.

  1. We have investigated this issue at some length, but unfortunately have not made much progress. The bug is specific to older versions of Internet Explorer, and is likely related to one of the browser's many arcane quirks. This unfortunately means that identifying the source of the problem is an extremely slow process even under the best of circumstances.

We have not forgotten about this issue but are unlikely to find the solution in the near-term. If the bug is especially problematic for you, the quickest workaround would be to upgrade to Internet Explorer 9 or to use a more standards-compliant browser. Our sincere apologies for the inconvenience.

Thanks for the prompt response. I operate on IE9 , so that doesnt appear to be a workround. I'll put it down to a glitch in Chowhound that I have live with. No worries.

Sorry for the mistake, it's been a while since I investigated this personally. The bug definitely doesn't occur in Firefox or Chrome, if that's any consolation. Thank you for the information, we'll let you know if there are any developments.

EDIT: Actually, I just switched to Windows and tried in IE9. I wasn't able to reproduce the issue in our testing environment on 9. Do you experience the error consistently, or only on certain posts? And if you go to Help > About Internet Explorer, specifically which version are you using?

I have experienced the same issue as Harters. The last few characters of a post are deleted after editing it (to correct spelling, etc.). here's my latest post that had that issue. http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/8048... I am running IE9 (64 bit).

I had horrible problems on this site using IE9. I went back to IE8.
