Kosher Food In Montreal

Anyone have any recommendations for Kosher restaurants in Montreal and for a take-out place for shabbos? Thanks.

Mortys is really good, such fantastic steaks and service. We like it a lot, they also cater shabbos meals. Chops is So so... Used to be better when they opened but went downhill quickly plus it's very expensive, average main dish is 40-50 and they force u to pay 18% for service. Yakimono is great for sushi and Exception on Queen Mary is a fantastic dairy place, try their creme brûlée

We were in Montreal in July and got takeout food from La Margarite. Food was good. We ate it cold in the hotel.

I'll second the vote to go to Yakimono - great sushi!

We also enjoyed L'Exception - a dairy restaurant. We came back and got takeaway sandwiches and desserts for our ride home (not often you get to eat tiramisu at the rest stop). fabulous ;)

Its been about a year since the most recent discussion I can find. Perhaps something new has opened or things have changed. Also, no one seemed to talk about shabbos take out places

Try Chops on Queen Mary. It is very good, though somewhat expensive. The steak was excellent. Try to sit in the lower level dining area, rather than the main room, since the ambience is much better there.

I will check it out. I hate that so many of these restaurants dont have their menus online. Can you give any more clarification to the price range?

I recollect that most entrees for Chops were in the $30 to $40 range.

By the way, if you want take out, you can also check out the IGA supermarket in the Cote St. Luc area which has one of the largest kosher sectoins I have ever seen in a general supermarket. Besides three full aisles of packaged goods, ther was a large bakery and a large take out section.

Vacationed in Montreal this summer. Thought Chops was great. Morty's was OK, not amazing. If you like sushi, then Yakimono is fantastic-we went there twice and enjoyed every morsel.

Can't speak to Shabbos takeout as we didn't stay...
