Ballard- Restaurant gift certificate for a wedding present

A couple of my newly wed friends are living in Ballard and for a present I wanted to get them a gift certificate to a nice restaurant for them to have a special date. Trying to keep it to $75, so nothing too fancy/expensive, just something really special that they would enjoy. One of them is a semi veg, but other than that, they eat most things.

  1. Well, Staple & Fancy and Golden Beetle would be the obvious choices. Staples & Fancy probably doesn't fit the budget if you want to cover the whole meal, but you might be able to do $75 at Golden Beetle.

I personally still really like Volterra, but I know it's fallen off in popularity with the emergence of other Italian places. $75 might be tough there too.

$75 would be plenty for food and wine and Bastille. I'm not a huge French bistro guy, but that might be the best call for what you're looking for.

I think Bastille is a nice choice. Even if they don't turn out to be huge fans of French food, it's such a good space (indoor and outdoor), and the bar's good as well.

Especially if they go to Golden Beetle at Happy Hour. Check in after 5 and order before 6 and you are golden. Patrons here have not come for volume, but flavor, so do not expect "eat a 24 ounce steak for free," but the flavors are intense, and thoughtful, and this might just be the place for a lovely evening of flavors. The bar is no slouch, either, and I recommend you be ready to dig slightly deeper to get the whole real deal.

I would be stoked to get a $75 gift certifcate to Ocho.
