In the absence of Mina and S Spice

Don't flame me -- I can search, and there's no clear answer to my question -- where should I go now for great Indian takeout.

I will travel, although New Hyde Park is prob too much of a haul, unless I'm already out that way.

Thanks in advance. I'm grateful for a curated/selective list of new places to try.

  1. 1) The Ganesh Temple canteen in Flushing for quite authentic all-veg. Tamilian food;
    2) Neerob in Parkchester for amazing Bangladeshi (not exactly Indian, per se -- but Desi it is, none-the-less!);
    3) Thelewala in the West Village for very decent, if gentrified, chaat;
    4) Punjabi Deli in LES for N. Indian gut bombs (aka, very heavy chaat).

    There are also some interesting Keralan (S. Indian) places in N. Hyde Park, but el jefe knows much more about these than I do.

    1. I've had a couple of great meals at Dera, in Jackson Heights, recently. Their chicken tikka particularly is a thing of beauty.

        Curious about Dera. It's Pakistani? Bangladeshi? I know of a small radha soami religious village in northern punjab (India) called it Punjabi food?
