Good cappuccino around New England Medical Center?

I have a standing cappuccino date with a friend. We always meet near her work, but her office is moving to Washington St. near New England Medical Center so we need to find a new spot. I figure there must be something around there, probably on Tremont. Suggestions, please?

P.S. We're looking for cappuccino specifically, and good foam is a must. Well-made tea would be a plus.

Thanks Matt, but we need it to be a short, walkable distance from her work. If you have any ideas up the other end of Tremont (near Castle Sq., BCA/Cyclorama, etc.), please send them over!

    2. There's the new Jaho Coffee and Tea at 1651 Washington Street. I haven't been but MC Slim JB has said positive things about it. They are offering a lot of different brewing methods but it looks like they also have espresso and espresso-based drinks, so that might be a good choice. Nearby is the original Flour bakery, which also does espresso-based drinks, though of course the emphasis is really on the pastry. I'd try Jaho so you can tell us all how you liked someplace new.

Lovely! I spent a very pleasant couple of hours at the Salem Jaho location last year, burning time until my train left, and on that basis alone I'd be willing to give it a go. However, I'm still a bit concerned about the distance, as it's a good 15-minute walk from her office (and we will be walking). Anything closer-to?

Someone might have a good suggestion, but I think you are in somewhat of a Bermuda Triangle between Thinking Cup, Jaho, and Pavement (on Boylston). Can you be a bit more precise about what intersection you are starting from? Thinking Cup is right on the Common--wouldn't that be pretty close if you are on Washington but fifteen minutes away from Jaho?

We'll be starting near the intersection of Washington and Herald, which puts us pretty much exactly between Thinking Cup and Jaho, while being convenient to neither - Thinking Cup's on the other side of DTX and Chinatown, and Jaho's down the other end of Washington almost at Mass. Ave. (Pavement's twice as far away and right out!)

Ugh. This is not looking good.

I see where you are starting from. Google Maps tells me its .6 miles up Tremont to Thinking Cup--you will just have to walk quickly! It's worth it.

Boston Common Coffee Co. on Washington St. in the theater district doesn't seem that far away and they make a decent cappuccino (although it can vary from barista to barista). Be sure to ask for foam.

The original Flour bakery in the South End is nowhere near NEMC. It's closer to BU medical center.

BTW---the link that appeared automatically in my post refers to a different location of Boston Common coffee, which is not the one I intended. There is in fact a location at 515 Washington St.

In my opinion, if you are in that area of Tremont St./the Theater District, you are much better of at Thinking Cup over Boston Common Coffee on Washington St. Thinking Cup is a 90 second walk away and much much better in my experience. Plus, their pastries/breads are excellent. I had a fantastic piece of banana bread together with a cappucino there the other day.

Good to know---I will check out Thinking Cup soon!

          2. What about Market at the W? It's right there. Obviously not a cafe vibe, more of a luxe hotel. But if your priorities are: a) a nice time with your friend, b) proximity and c) good cappuccino, I don't see why it wouldn't work. I've never been. m-f breakfast hours are 7-11, lunch 11:30-2:30.
