Santa Cruz, buying salmon off a boat?

Are any boats in the Santa Cruz harbor selling salmon right now? Pillar Point Harbor, up by Half Moon Bay, has a FishFone number to call to find out what's on offer. Is there a similar number for Santa Cruz? Or do you just show up and see what's there? Any info or suggestions are welcome!

I was under the impression that salmon season is not open that far south...could be wrong, but the CDFG website for the commercial season says that for the area between Pt Arena and Pt Sur (which would include Santa Cruz) between July 27 and August 29th "all salmon must be landed within 24 hours of the August 29th closure" (whatever that means, but plain English would lead me to believe that means it is in essence a day long season?).

A few weeks ago I was at the Glen Ellen Farmer's Market up in Sonoma County, and bought some really lovely and delicious salmon from a local fisherman who told me that he had had to go up to the Ft Bragg area (which is above Point Arena) this year because of closure to the south.

No, that means that boats that are out on August 29 must bring their catch to land no later than August 30. The season ends 8/29, then they have 24 hours to bring the boat (and fish) in to port.

thanks for the clarification! that may mean that either I misunderstood the guy at the FM, or it could be that fishing is just better near Ft. Bragg than locally to the Sonoma Coast, but he didn't want to tell me that (?). I got the definite impression that he was reluctant to tell me where the fish was from when I asked; I wonder if he thought I'd think that Ft. Bragg wasn't really local to Sonoma (?).

In case you don't get a quick reply from someone in the know, I'll mention that in other locales I've called the Harbormaster of the port for info about buying fish off the docks. Here's the contact info for Santa Cruz,
