Spooky Ads -- Someone is Tracking Me!
It's starting to freak me out. The ads in the banner and at the top of the side bar are for travel and shopping sites that I have visited in the last few weeks. They seem to be the places where I didn't buy anything! I would be paranoid except they ARE out to get me. [Insert Twilight Zone Theme here.]
That's how internet ads work... Most websites will leave a "cookie" on your browser, which lets their site remember you when you return, but also lets other sites know where you've been so they can tailor ads to you. You can disable cookies in your browser privacy settings, but this will also disable some of the conveniences of browsing (like "remember me" options).

Furthermore, many browsers have different cookie settings in between "allow all of them" and "don't allow any of them". For example, In Internet Explorer, you can click on Tools - Internet Options and then on the Privacy tab. There you will find a slide control with six settings for automatic treatment of cookies, and there is also a button for Sites where you can enter which sites you want to always allow cookies for and which sites you want to never allow cookies for.
