Worthwhile places to eat at in Battery Park City?

I'm going to be spending a good amount of time in BPC, and I would like to eat somewhere when I'm there. Prefer it to actually be in BPC, but no big deal if it's nearby. Any good options or am I stuck with the World Financial Center options?

Any type of food is fine, I'm not picky. Just somewhere I can go by myself for a nice weekday mid-afternoon lunch.

A five-minute stroll from the WFC will get you down to Inatteso; lunch menu below.

And, down at South Cove, there's LIberty View, for some Chinese with a nice view.

Neither joint is destination dining (which doesn't exist in BPC, at least until Cardoz's North End Grill opens), but are a tad better than PJ Clarke's or Au Mandarin in the WFC.

So, I ate at Shake Shack and I made it over to Inatesso. Loved Inatesso. While there might be better pizza places, it was good and I really liked their restaurant. BPC is an area I was spending a lot of time in, only less this trip because of the hurricane.

Look forward to checking out some others and North End Grill later in the year. Does anyone have a date for that is it just winter 2011?

Some news just came out today, coincidentally. Looks like both North End Grill and Blue Smoke are aiming for December openings.

          http://www.nypost.com/p/entertainment...

Chef Floyd Cardoz isn’t launching his North End Grill in Battery Park City (104 North End Ave.) until December, but says, “I’m already getting e-mails from people who live in the area, asking when we’re going to be open.”

Cardoz, a winner on Bravo’s “Top Chef Master” and previously kitchen chief at Tabla, will join Danny Meyer’s downtown dominion, next to outposts of Blue Smoke Battery Park City (255 Vesey St.; opening December) and BPC’s very own Shake Shack, which opened last spring in the same complex.

Sadly, Southwest will be closing in that location at the end of September (Brookfield's WFC renovation). They'll be moving to a less scenic locale 2 blocks south on South End Ave, where the late lamented (tho only by residents) Garden Cafe used to be.

I did eat at Shake Shack yesterday afternoon. And as my first time going to Shake Shack, it was damn good. I suppose I shouldn't be hanging around BPC over the weekend, but I do want to hit up Inatteso or P.J. Clarke's.

Mudville is a bar in BPC that has the best wings in the city IMO, also great burgers and over 30 beers on tap.
For me, PJ Clarks has awful food as does Southwest.

You can walk 5-15 minutes (depending where you are in BPC) up to Greenwich St. in Tribeca and try out some places on "Restaurant Row" (my coinage). Some of the more popular spots are Locande Verde, Tribeca Grill, and Wolfgang's Steakhouse. Also, Sarabeth's just opened up.

Thanks for the info. Yeah, I did some exploring in Tribeca and other areas just by BPC and there seemed to be a lot of dining options just outside of BPC. I will def. check out some of these places when I am there again this year. Will have more time, but I really like the area.
