Dinner Tonight near Parker Meridian -- Drawing a Blank -- Suggestions?

  • s
  • 8

hi...a buddy in town from LA is staying at Parker Meridian, and we're meeting there and then walking to dinner nearby...it's not a crucial dinner or anything, but i'm drawing a blank...

We had a pricey boozey dinner at Maialino a few nights ago, so i'm thinking something more mellow, less pricey...prob not Italian again...other than that, cuisine open, though unfortunately my friend cannot eat shellfish...budget is flexible (higher or lower) but let's say approximately 75/person including a drink/tax/tip...

Open to very random ideas...thanks in advance...

  1. Perhaps La Silhouette? The new chef is from La Grenouille but there hasn't been any feedback since he took over.

    1. Highly recommend Ma Peche especially since it's a block away from the Parker Meridien. Great variety of food. Check out erica's glowing dinner report from last night.

Erica's report does make it sound yummy...i think we prob want a more mellow dinner for this evening though (as opposed to a prix-fixe/tasting-menu)...

i might try it some other time, but i've despised all the downtown D. Chang places (never been to Ko, but been to the others) -- thoroughly disliked the food, service, and attitude at all of them...is Ma Peche appreciably different?

I forgot that you don't like the Momofuku restaurants. FWIW, Ma Peche and Ko are tied for my favorite Momofuku restaurants. Ma Peche is quieter and the food is more upscale than Noodle Bar and Ssam Bar. While you certainly can order the prix fixe menu, I usually order a la carte since there are so many yummy things on the menu. I've always found the service to be friendly and attentive. Hope you do try Ma Peche in the future.

      2. Seasonal? They have a $52 prix fixe.

Seasonal is a great suggestion. I recently had a very nice dinner there.

        2. You're not far from Yakitori Totto or Ma Peche. YT isn't particularly mellow, and I've never been to Ma Peche (but I want to go). But remind me, you have strong feelings about someone--Chang? Batali? Both?
