Toronto To Pembroke Suggestions
I am heading up to a cottage near Pembroke on Thursday and I am looking for suggestions of places to stop for food. Poutine, Ice Cream, baking, produce, meat, what ever. We are going east on the 401 then turning north at Belleville, up to highway 7 then north on 41. Is there a good picnic place or provincial park to stop for a break and have a swim?
I am hoping for something look forward to on the 6 hour drive up.
Thanks a lot,
I'm too late for you, but I drove a different route up to that neck of the woods this weekend. I got my much-needed poutine fix at the Fry Guys on the edge of Round Lake...although there was another chip truck/stand just a little further up the road that looked fun. Had I known, I would have ordered smaller and done a comparative tasting. ;) On my way back I made a stop at Algonquin Gourmet Butter Tarts in Maynooth. Both are worth a stop if you're headed that way again - while I'm certainly no expert, the butter tarts were solid and available in varieties I never knew existed. Good coffee, too.
