I'm craving cherries and pistachios

Hello Seattle Chowhounders,

I will be visiting for a week in September, staying at Inn at the Market, and have been consuming the great advice here. I'm at the "possibilities" stage so far, and organizing the info in TripDoc website, which has nice integration with the iPhone. (opening and closing times / days are always the tough thing to deal with when traveling; am using the Notes feature for that.)

OK back to the ChowQ, which haven't seen yet: For some reason, I am craving cherries and pistachios.

Any suggestions?

I'm picturing a dessert, but savory suggestions are welcome too!

    Darn.

Well thank you any anyway PAO and howard 1st.

I will check out Chukar Cherries. From their website, I definitely will pick up these:

I've always disliked chocolate covered fruits of any type. Maybe they have samples and suddenly I'll change my mind :).

Maybe before I go, I'll make a cherry crisp with a... pistachio streusel I can make the minutes... Or something like a vanilla pudding / custard with a cherry reduction layered throughout with a pistachio topping.

sadly, the fresh cherries (rainier, bing, lambert) will probably be gone by then and pistachios prefer a warmer climate than we can offer - but chukar cherries (in pike place market) offers a variety of dried cherry treats including some with pistachios.

Sorry, I didn't notice you're going to be here in September. Howard is right. Unlikely to be any fresh local cherries.

Don't know who has a cherry dessert (or anything savory for that matter) on the menu, but you're practically in the Pike Place Market so check there for fresh cherries. It's a little late, but the soft fruit season has been late this season due to the weather, so you might find some being sold by the farmers themselves.
