  • 5

In case you missed it...Chef Nate Allen was recognized in a recent issue of Cooking Light...http://www.cookinglight.com/food/nate...
He also beat the Bistro at Biltmore at a recent Western NC Wine & Festival Event ...one of the judges was famous cookbook author, TV personality & chef Nathalie Dupree.
This small restaurant is about 1 hr from Asheville.

  1. Thanks for posting this leahsc. I have a cabin not too far away and I will have to check this out and report, as SP is much closer to me than Asheville.

    1. I have eaten at K & F around 20-25 times...always very good. Nate (Chef) is always on property as is Wendy who manages the front of the restaurant. Ingredients are locally sourced and the wine list is extremely affordable. We love Sunday Brunch...the sausage, Chicken and Waffles, Pork Belly are all delicious. Last week we had a wonderful sautéed okra dish. There is a lot of love and passion going into the food and operation. The place is worth a trip in my opinion.

          Tee,

K&F is on lower street in "downtown"...technically Locust Street. http://www.knifeandforknc.com/. Spruce Pine is tiny but trying to generate some overall interest in food (or at least dining out). There is a fun pizza place on upper street as well. We live about 20-25 minutes from the restaurant but feel the drive is worthwhile. They are closed Mondays and serve lunch/brunch Tuesday-Friday and Sunday, dinner Tuesday-Saturday (I think...but check the site...this was the schedule last year). The restaurant looks onto the train tracks...has a neat small town vibe...and a lot of talent.
