Hazard: The enamel coating on the cast iron casseroles can crack or break during use. This can cause the enamel to crack and fly off as a projectile, posing a risk of laceration or burn hazard to the user or bystanders.

Incidents/Injuries: Macy's has received two reports of the enamel cracking and flying off of the casseroles during use. No injuries have been reported.

Thank you for posting this. I have 2 of these in 5.5 and 2.75. I'm so bummed to have to return them because I love them, but I'd hate for the enamel to crack while I'm cooking something. I guess I should spend the bucks to get the good stuff.

Yikes! Thank you so much. I have one of these, I got it as a gift last Christmas. I'll have to find a Macy's to bring it back to.

just had to return to Macy's the two I got as gifts. Got the "average" price on them, which was well below sticker price. Walked away with about $90 for store credit. I'm incredibly frustrated with their return policy.

They give you store credit? Ugh. I was planning on getting a Staub as a replacement. I have a 5.5 qt one with a $109 sticker price. I've got a feeling that I'm gonna get screwed.

I don't have the receipt as it was a gift, but I have the box. Maybe that will count for something.

Ended up getting $42.00 cash back. Annoyed. Ordered the Staub anyway.

Huh. I have the dutch oven version of that product but I guess no flying enamel there so far. I'll be on guard, though.

Shit! I have one too - a Christmas gift from my husband. At least I THINK it's the 3.5 qt. dutch oven. Macy's has removed the whole MS cast iron line from their site now, so I can't see. I've never had any problems with it, but then I don't use it that much. It's very pretty and I love the red color, but it's a little small for anything but side dishes. I find my 5 and 7 qt. Le Creuset are more practical for my purposes.
