Ellsworth dining

We will be in Ellsworth for the weekend in mid-September and are looking for recommendations for dinner. Two restaurants I have come up with are Bangkok Restaurant and Cleonice. Are there better alternatives in Ellsworth or would we better off heading to Bar Harbor for dinner.

  1. Cleonice - absolutely. Never been to Bangkok, though it gets some good reviews on Travel Advisor, etc.. Unless you're coming from a Thai deprived area, I dunno. The Union River Lobster Pot is very Maine and very good.
If you're around for lunch, 2 suggestions: Martha's Diner where everything is made fresh and the crab roll is perhaps the best on the planet and Jordan's Snack Bar. Both very casual but delicious. Riverside Cafe is also excellent as is Finelli's Pizza.

Ditto Cleonice (love the sangria), Martha's (go for breakfast, crab benedict), Jordan's (crab roll & onion rings), Riverside (cinnamon bun french toast) and Finelli's (just don't expect atmosphere)

I was with a group of six that had dinner at Bangkok last week. I'm a big fan of Thai food but I think this is my most disappointing Thai experience ever. We had soup which was lacking in flavor. The chicken satay was deep fried, not grilled as usual, and had the consistency of shoe leather, or at least how I would imagine show leather to taste. The various dishes seemed to have the same tasteless sauce. Service was so bad that everyone at the table but me gave up waiting for the check they all decided to wait outside. I had to get up and track someone down to get the check. I will never return.
