Can anyone please recommend a store near Verdun that sells Avjar (the roasted red pepper spread)?

    Have you tried Marche Atwater?

If you're looking for Turkish-made industrial ajvar, you can find it pretty much anywhere. Middle-Eastern stores, bulk stores, gourmet stores and many supermarkets carry it. Marché Atwater is a sure bet. Aubut carries it. I've seen it in almost every Maxi and SuperC I've ever been to. A lot of Metro stores have it. It also shows up in odd spots like certain Latino markets.

If you want the real deal i.e. hand-made Serbian ajvar you can find that at Balkan Foods on St-Hubert. If you've never had real ajvar, it is totally worth going out of your way. There's really no comparison between hand-made ajvar and the stuff from Turkey. They might as well be two completely different products.

BTW, it is spelled ajvar not avjar and it's pronounced iVar like iPhone, iPad, etc.

Whoops. Sorry about the typo. Thanks Hala and SnackHappy for the replies. My sister-in-law says she has never seen it there, but now we can pass along your suggestions.
