Searching for pupusas
My favorite pupusa place closed, and I need a new go-to spot. Does anyone have a truly great place in Virginia?

Any notable pupuserías in/near to Herndon-Reston? I see a lot of pupuserías, but I have yet to stop and get a pupusa because I don't want to get a so-so one and I don't know the places here at all. I disagree with the above comment that they are all the same, they should be well seasoned, well stuffed, formed properly, and crispy on the outside but not excessively oily, and the accompanying curtido and salsa should be good, too. Or maybe NoVa just has all good pupusas because a lame pupusería wouldn't survive with the large Salvadoran community??? Anyway, any recs?

What makes "great"? How nice (or hole-in-the-wall)?
I feel like family at ABI just off Columbia Pike, and as with anyplace there are some winners and some losers on the menu.

re: Exploremore
ABI is my own favorite (I love the decor of hats from aslmost every country in the world). The pupusas are ... well, I've never had a pupusa anywhere that seemed much different from a pupusa anywhere else (so I'm not a very rarefied gourmet, what the heck?). So they're good. Get them filled with Choice of cheese, pork and cheese, beans, beans and cheese, or loroco.
See the selections at http://www.abirestaurant.com/main.html - The sides are good: to my taste, the beans are excellent, the rice is just rice, the curtido is good. I'm not fond of the enchiladas, but I really like the tamales (especially the sweet corn tamal). Haven't tried the soups but they look good. The steaks are so-so.Also, the servers are a joy.
