3 days in Rome--looking for suggestions on best places to go to make the 3 days count!
I'm spending 3 days in Rome in early September and would really appreciate some restaurant suggestions to make my few meals in the Eternal City count! We are staying near the Piazza Navona but will travel for great food. So far friends have recommended ARCHETTO Restaurante and IL Convivio Troiani--any other suggestions? Are there any dishes that are "typical" for this time of year?
Thanks in advance for your help--I really appreciate it!
You need to go back to the drawing board. There are many recent and not so recent posts on Roman restaurants, which you should read in their entirety since a thread may contain many different opinions on the same place.
Il Convivio is an excellent high-end restaurant. I believe there is more than one place called Archetto or L'Archetto, but none, to my knowledge, register a blip on the radar of serious eaters. And a general comment on recommendations from friends: ask them not just where they ate but what they ate.
Look at the posts and see what appeals. You can then return with specific questions.
As for the time of year: early September is still summer, meaning zucchini (the excellent local variety), fresh borlotti beans, eggplant, bell peppers, great tomatoes, and also the sweet small figs known as "settembrini."
