Chowhound forums removed from bottom of page and side bars?

With hot posts being buried andnot working well, this was one of the last ways tosee what was going on in general.

  1. I miss this also. : \

    1. The forums topics listing at the bottom of the page was better than nothing, but the sidebar listing which it replaced was the better format. The threads listed in the sidebar box were, exclusively, brand new threads, and were identified with the board they were on. The listing at the bottom of the page showed the latest posts on all threads, regardless of when those threads started. There was no indication of board, which was frustrating. Illinois readers may click onto a post entitled, say, "New Farmers Market in Springfield" , only to be disappointed when it turns out to be Massachusetts, not Illinois. I think the long-gone sidebar format was the most effective in terms of attracting eyeballs to new posts and generating replies thereto.

      1. Thanks for bringing them back.

Now they're gone again. At least for me. Could someone clarify, please. Is there a reason they come and go? Can we hope to have either the sidebar or the listing at the bottom of the threads back permanently at some point?

As I mentioned in another thread today, a number of recent changes around the site were temporarily reversed this morning. The Chowhound items in the footer were meant to return for the time being; they will be swapped back in as soon as we sort some things out. Apologies for the apparent flip-flopping, it was not our intent.

Thanks. Obviously missed the other thread. Looking forward to having the Chowhound Discussion heading back.
