New restaurant in St. Sauveur
We happened to need a late supper while driving back from the Laurentians. So we popped into St. Sauveur; one of the first restos we drove by on the north side of the Rue Principale was something called Bistrogolf. There was a parking space in front and what caught our eye was a sign saying the cuisine was from Reunion in the Indian Ocean. Inside there were virtual golf machines. Outside, a nice litte terasse with a couple of putting greens.
The food: well, it was fantastic. You could choose between 'classic' Reunion dishes and something like a tasting menu (titled Par 3, Par 4, Par 5) which determined the number of main dishes, while you get one side and one 'relish' of your choice.
We chose the classic dishes, one shrimp and one lamb. Both were accompanied by pois en sauce (stewed kidney beans), and rice. Excelently cooked and tasty. Each dish was in a little metal pot.
The desserts and wine selection was also excellent and one of the owners came around and asked about our meals. The service was attentive; an excellent waiter.
The interior was well decorated with a modern touch.
All in all, we would even drive up there again for a special trip for a meal.
(Apparently in the winter, the virtual golf is very popular, too).
PS Not such a new resto but haven't seen a review on here since it opened last year.
