Any Guanciale in North County?

I know I can order it online and I'm sure there are places in San Diego. Anyone know if it's available in North County--inland if possible, of course Escondido would be perfect.

Also not quite North County, but they sometimes carry it at the Whole Foods in La Jolla.

Did you try T&H in San Marcos or Major Market?

I haven't seen it at Major Market--my favorite local market--but I will have to ask. They do have pancetta.

Since you're in North County, call Tender Greens in Liberty Station and see if Pete Ballestreri is making guanciale. He makes a variety of specialty meats and he may do that on occasion. The call will at least save you a drive.

Okay, I really am good at georgraphy and I do know that it's not in North County ;-). But guanciale isn't exactly an ingredient we see with any frequency here in "sleepy" (New York Post's idea of SD, not mine) San Diego. Consider it the "if all else fails" recommendation, but call first so you can save the drive if they don't.

Night Salumi's (RIP) new entity, spin off, whatever "Meat Men" might carry it, they seem to be just getting off the ground and have only had two types of salami lately, but i would not hurt to ask. They do the farmers markets, for sure they are at Poway on Saturdays.
