best place to sell 2 virtually-new steels?
In the opinion of the Knife Gurus here, what kind of venue would likely be more successful when trying to sell two steels? One is the F. Dick Poliron 10" polished oval honing rod, and the other is the Chef's Choice diamond sharpening steel, also oval and 10" long.
I bought the diamond one before I wised up that a fine ceramic is a better choice for the better knives that I now own. Of course by the time I realized that, the 30 day return period had expired. Duh. I think it was used twice. Three times at the most. So at $35 that comes out to a little more than $10 per use. Double duh.
The Poliron was a mistake in length on my part, in thinking that a 10" long one would be more than enough. Well, not for some of the longer knives I now have, at least not to use it nearly as comfortably as I do with the small knives. I should have just ordered the 12" Dickoron version at the get-go, which I finally did the other day but again, there's a $50-$75 item that I can see will be just put onto a top shelf somewhere and forgotten. I'd rather get 50% of my money back for each of these 'mistakes' if I possibly can.
So in your opinion what would be the better sales choice for something like this? eBay with it's gazillion fees, or to offer it directly to people on a knife forum? Although I suspect something like this is probably waaay too entry-level for anyone likely to be reading a knife forum. :-/
Suggestions? Thanks in advance!
