Israeli Ptitim (Ben-Gurion's Rice) in Bay Area?

Does anyone know where I can buy Ptitim (Ben-Gurion's Rice) in the bay area?

I'm looking for the round 'o' shaped version.

I had this at a friend's house and it was awesome. Apparently you can get the 'pearl' version but I'm looking for the 'o' shaped version that kind of looks like SpaghettiOs.

I love Israeli food and it would be great to get some without having to fly to Israel. =)

  1. Around here the spherical version is called Israeli couscous. Berkeley Bowl has it in the kosher section. I've never seen the version you're describing.

    1. Try Jerusalem Organic Kitchen if you're ever in N. Berkeley. The owner is Israeli Christian--which I mention because someone on yelp complained that the food wasn't Jewish enough or something--but he makes good food including Israeli couscous. Whether or not it's among the best Middle Eastern food around here is open to debate, but it's definitely solid. Our favorite and the owner couldn't be nicer or more hospitable. Perhaps if you as him about this ptitim, he'll be able to help you. If you can't get there, I'll try to remember to ask.

In some of the other ME restaurants, they snarl if you use that four-letter word, "Israel."
