Project: Long Island Coffeehouse map

I started putting together a map of coffeehouses on Long Island:

I have a few things to add (Jack's Stir Brew in Amagansett and 1014 Coffee in East Northport) weren't on Google maps yet, but I'm struck at the big gaping holes in the map, like central LI and all of north/eastern Suffolk, from the Sunken Meadow East and north of 27.

What am I missing?
1) no national chains.
2) must be more centered around coffee than food (thus the omission of Milk & Sugar in Bay Shore). It's OK if they serve meals, but it also must be the sort of place where you can sit with your laptop and an espresso.

  1. 1014 Coffee House is in Northport, not East Northport. Check their Facebook page for a map.

1014 Coffee House in Northport is closed.

    2. What about Georgio's in Huntington and Gentle Brew in Hicksville?

Where or where can I have an espresso outside in a ceramic cup not a paper one

        1. re: EZ Pass

I don't know that I'm inclined to put in Georgio's or Gentle Brew, as they're both chiefly there as bean roasters/retailers, not brewers. It's been a while since I've been to Georgio's, but I don't remember there being the coffeehouse vibe--it's not a place where you can go and chill (though you can pick up a fine espresso to go).

I don't think Gentle Brew even has an espresso machine; they basically just have a French press or two, and I think they have cold brewed coffee in a fridge, Plus, IIRC they only have two seats, which the owners/workers often seem to be using. I spoke with them about this once, and they're pretty intent on being a bean retailer for now, not a coffee brewer.

Plumb forgot; since their move, Gentle Brew has seating; added to the map.

        2. Closed: Classy Coffee in Huntington.

New discovery: ADOR Coffee, 14 Bayville Avenue in Bayville
Apparently, they've been there 2 years?!? Haven't gotten a chance to go there yet. Anyone know anything about the place?

          1. This is really great, but the link does not work for me, it opens as a download.
Any one else have this problem??

                New addition:
                Beanbery caffe

Beanberry is closed, as best as I can tell.

            1. Added:
              Sip This‎
              64 Rockaway Avenue
              Valley Stream, NY 11580

              1. Closed: The Coffee Shop, Bellport.

There are some mighty big holes in the map; did I miss anything?

                1. Another addition:
                  102 Route 109
                  West Babylon

Still... not really much of a change in distribution.

                  1. Another new one, Tend Coffee in Shirley; they also roast their own beans.

Note that they're the same people who make Chokolaj chocolates,

Anyone know of coffee places that I've missed (check the OP for criteria).

The Grind Cafe in Wading River (Suffolk).

Great coffee and food, but a little pricey.

I've been meaning to try this place, though post-Sandy rebuilding has limited my travel. Are they OK with people sitting with laptops? Table- or counter service?

                        1. re: Scott_R

If I recall correctly there is counter service. I'm not sure about their stance on people sitting with laptops, as I've only taken food out, but I doubt it would be a problem. The cafe has a really nice atmosphere, and there is also a duck pond right across the street where you could take your coffee and/or food on a nice day.

Went to Grind Café and I'm vacillating a little about adding them. I had a Pastrami and Egg Pretzel, which was pretty enjoyable, but I get the impression that coffee is sort of an add-on and that meals are their focus.
Coffee prices are a little ridiculous... $4 for a "large" espresso? Please.

                            1. re: Scott_R

The point is moot, they are out of business since Labor Day.

                    2. Added: Crazy Beans in Miller Place, where Beanberry used to be.

A funky little coffee place with *beer* on tap!

                      1. Closed: All the Perks in W. Babylon.
